Another Image from Katmai in June - (not a Montana bear)

Jaime,

The simplicity of the shot is outstanding with the background beautifully blurred. One mass of an animal like a woolly machine of war, ready to lumber forward teeth and claws in attack mode! Two simple wavy patterns, the brown from the nose splaying out each side of the head and the grass in front over which this creature can bound forward. Hopefully you do at least get one growl before he takes off after you?

This is so much of a hunter's look. Those front set eye, close together, made for attack. Not the side eyes of the vulnerable deer made for defense.

This is a perfect example of the benefits to be gained by getting a low angle, so you can be at "eye-level" with your subject. It brings the viewer into the world of the bear, and can create wonderful backgrounds, as this one does.
