While walking around the Regents Canal area of north London I came across this 100 year old restaurant (Cookes) which specialises in old fashioned east end food like eel pie and mashed potato.
I didn't have the guts to try the eel pie, but had a beef pie and mash with parsley gravy to sample the fare - it would have been rude not to

Notice the spoon and fork. Traditionally they used this instead of a knife with this sort of food. I also desaturated the shots slightly as a kind of homage to its age and tried to create a kind of wartime look and feel without going the whole way and making them black and white

The decor has remained unchanged since the thirties...but luckily the waitresses are a slightly younger vintage
