Hi James,
You've used a beautiful model, that helps. Unfortunately the contours blend in with the background, in black and white anyway. Maybe there was a color contrast that got lost in the conversion?

Hi James,
Bart of course is right on both counts: beautiful girl and no separation of the dark figure from the shadowed background.
Could you show the original color picture? It might be that by assigning the colors to different tonalities on the grey scale, you will achieve perfect separation.
Now where's the bikini, or is this your first venture to the Bikini Islands?

What did you try to use to convert this image? You took a good initial image. In my opinion the answer lies in the conversion process. Depending on what you did or did not do it might be as simple as just applying a filter to it.
