First baby shoot this weekend

And the verdict is ... I have no idea how to shoot a baby! I am now in awe of newborn photographers. I ended up mainly shooting mom holding the baby in an odd place - the stairs. The house was big and new without much furniture, and everywhere else we went, they seemed to get lost.

Anyway, this was rough. What are my take-aways for next time?

Sydney,

With obvious attention to love, you have found a niche for yourself. There are technical and esthetic areas for improvement but your sense of the feelings are already there; tenderness, devotion and love!

So that's my initial reaction. I do think that you should plan to go to a figure drawing class to compose set ups and then visit museums and galleries and see how space in the frame might be used. None of these are urgent as these pictures serve their intended purpose. Still, you are in a growth mode and I just suggest two of the most important influences you can add to your love-memory-picture making.
