Rajan,
I'm so impressed. My first thought was, at last and original sunset! So, if this is the most photographed art piece in Reykjavík, how does one do it differently?

I like the image as well. Brave composition, sun setting in the viking( ?) ship...

Asher,
I wanted to avoid photographing Sólfar since it is such a cliched subject. But I was up and about in the city and the golden light was simply magical. So I decided to head out to the waterfront and see the sunset. And then I couldn't resist. I didn't have much room to manoeuvre since Reykjavîk residents were arriving at the spot and milling around, waiting for the sun to set. I placed myself on the rocks and shot as best as I could, minimizing intrusion of folk into my composition.

Also interesting to note is that the sculpture is named Sólfar: The Sun Voyager, so it is nice to juxtapose the sun. I hope you had a chance to try different compositions.

Very nice photo. I like the way you composed it. It really works for me. Good job!
