We need to work out the Smugmug coding to pull out images from a slide show. We accept a url that is clean, (and ends with .jpg, assuming your file is indeed a jpg) placed between
and Asher
Nope! no need:
crtl click with Mac or right clic with PC on the image then choose "copy image URL" and paste it within tags Nicolas

however, it doesn't seem to work, at least not now!

Mais si!
open a new browser page and paste the URL (without ".jpg" at the end):
http://mikeguthman.smugmug.com/gallery/2209658#115030316
then:
crtl click with Mac or right clic with PC on the image then choose "copy image URL":
http://mikeguthman.smugmug.com/photos/115030316-M.jpg (with ".jpg" at the end)
and paste it within URL
You'll get this:
http://mikeguthman.smugmug.com/photos/115030316-M.jpg
Very nice image by the way!

I don't see what is the problem, follow exactly the instruction I've given and will work!
The URL you need to paste is NOT the URL of the page, BUT the URL of the image!
Please, take your time, drink a cup of tea and ccompare the 2 URLs, they are different!
Page URL
http:/*/mikeguthman.smugmug.com/gallery/2209658#115030316
image URL":
http:/*/mikeguthman.smugmug.com/photos/115030316-M.jpg
(note: I've put a * between the 2 / to avoid it being an href link)
The Bordeaux is in the cellar, I'm not that ill to drink Bordeaux wine for my breakfast !-)

Nicolas,
My good friend, no my best friend, that's exactly what I've been trying to tell you. It doesn't work in spite of the tea and the Bordeaux, in that order!

Mike
please see the note in my post regarding the * between the //
See also that you missed the slash in the latest tag, you typed [IMG] instead of , in order not to make that mistake, use http://www.openphotographyforums.com/forums/images/editor/insertimage.gif to insert the URL of your image...
Now I just include the "clean" URL thru http://www.openphotographyforums.com/forums/images/editor/insertimage.gif with * deleted, look, just below:
http://mikeguthman.smugmug.com/photos/127800891-M.jpg
If it doesn't work for you, please reread my explanations, HTML is very precise, any error in typing and you won't get what you want.
For further assistance ask Sean or any good English writer to explain, I feel like I can't be read/understood correctly!

my best American friend, please continue to drink tea and forget wine!
Or maybe the inverse, but not both in the same time!

Hi Mike,
I could not find the image you wanted, so I am going to pick my own choice. <smile>
Anyway the first step is to use the Firefox web browser (while I test professionally with Internet Explorer for compatibility, I do not use that second rate software for my own usage as its inferior software engineering makes more work for users).
To get Firefox go to:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ (US English)
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html (International Versions)
Once this software is installed, then browse to your SmugMug page with your desired image. Right click on the image (option click or some such on a Mac) and select Copy Image Location. I should note all the extra work of installing Firefox is to make this step very easy and to ensure the software chosen works on Windows and Macs (*nixes too).

This should yield something like http://mikeguthman.smugmug.com/photos/115029942-M.jpg in your copy/cut buffer so you can paste it elsewhere.
The next step is to click the little picture icon on the WYSIWYG editor (the yellow square showing a mountain range and the sun) and paste in the URL we just copied from SmugMug.
http://www.envisagement.com/opf/smugmug_02.jpg
And the press OK and the image should appear like below.

New York Street Scenes - Copyright 2007 Mike Guthman (http://mikeguthman.smugmug.com/gallery/2209658#115029942)
I should also note I selected the image and caption text and used the link button to link the image and caption to the SmugMug page.
I hope this helps.
enjoy your day,
Sean

I looked at the "O" size in the smugmug gallery. I was expecting lots of very sharp detail but got saw something entirely different.
I really like your exposure for the shadows. By allowing the detail in the bright floor to wash out, it brings focus to the people in the image foreground and the activities they are engaged in.
Nice!
Could you share any techniques/challenges related to this photo?

You guys are great... thanks for all your efforts in fighting thru my computer inadequacies...
Ed, thanks for the feedback. Not sure which image your looking at... three have now been posted. If you describe the shot your asking about I'd be glad to let you know how I played with it digitally. I tend to like my images pushed to a more painterly look.

Thanks Sean
the weird thing is that now the links I created here for my explanations doesn't show anymore!
(they did yesterday) I checked the links manually (Edit the post, select/copy the URL and paste it in a new window) and the images are well there on their server...
What's up?
Your links show well (for now ;-)...
BTW I'm using Safari with Mac ("copy location" is with crtl click)

And now the link posted by Sean doesn't work either...

Thanks for the kind words. That shot was a matter of great luck. I was in Grand Central Station in NYC one morning waiting for friends and the sun came in thru the east side windows. I had my Ricoh GRD with me (fixed 28mm equivalent lens) and grabbed this shot (JPEG).
The quality of the capture was not wonderful but I really liked the feeling of the image. I'm sure I made some adjustments in curves... but the biggest impact was from a photoshop plug-in that I often use from a company called LUCIS ART. This plug-in lets you apply several different transformations to images. Each gives the effect generally associated with a different painter. In this case I used the 'Wyeth' option. Many of the options pull more detail out of the capture than you originally see. The downside is that they introduce noise.
You can get a demo version at www.lucisart.com (http://www.lucisart.com). I'm not affiliated with this company.
