Hi all. Although this is somewhat embarrassing, I think it is outstanding that Asher has provided this "introduce yourself" section.....and I feel rude posting before introducing myself (though I already have....sorry)
I'm Greg, I live in Northern Indiana about 60 statute miles east of Chicago. I bought my first SLR while on holiday with my folks in Europe in Geneva, Switzerland around '72 as a teenager, became fascinated with photography, and studied for a time under the supervision of a local pro studio owner who happened be be my high school's yearbook's pro. I did quite a bit of printing in my B/W dark/wetroom throughout the 70's.
Around the early '80's, I abandoned photography for various reasons, and became interested again when DSLR's that actually worked and were affordable to the amateur arrived. My first was the Nikon D70 which is now joined by a D200, along with my favorite, believe it or not, a 2 year old Casio compact point and shoot (soon to be replaced by a Canon SD800 or equivalent)....along with numerous lenses, flashes, et al.
I'm about 3 years back in, and still re-learning. I guess I consider myself an advanced beginner....because I'm finding I'm having to re-learn much of what used to come as second nature.
Thank you all for having me. (and to Cem for making me aware of this outstanding forum)
Regards,
Greg
