In October of 2003, I attended the World Road Championships in Hamilton, ON. Most riders are bunched into a pack during the first few laps of the race. From far, they seem to be an amorphous blob. Up close, individuals jostle in synchronicity. Within moments, they fly past you leaving but a memory of colour and the sound of pedaling.

Image details: Canon 10D, 20mm, f/9, 1/60, camera held overhead and panned while shooting, no photoshop.

Nice capture, it catches the essence of the rushing, closely packed peloton.

Thanks for sharing

Peloton ... that was the word for the pack ... thanks for reminding me.

I like the shot. It has a lot of power.

Interesting that the speed curves the spokes! I have never seen that before.

Thanks for sharing.

I think this is a product of the combination of wheels spinning, riders moving, and me panning the camera.
