I have not posted here in a while... apologies...

Nadia and I have finally put online some of the images from our recent trip to Vietnam on behalf of some American NGOs.

This page contains some of the same images found above and some new ones.

Be advised that this last link shows graphic images from the GoVap orphanage. Browse at your own risk.

Feedback is always welcome.

Thanks,
Luca + Nadia

There are some very impressive photographs there. Too many to comment on here, of course. I also like your website. Did you make it yourself? Or does a company take care of it for you?

Luca,

So far I've studied the orphanage series. I am left almost haunted but yet finally uplifted by the tragedy yet outstretched hand of humanity that your pictures bring.

I hope you can actually embed some of those pictures, like the boy on the floor sleeping and others into this thread. The power should be available for people to appreciate immediately.

The website(s) are designed and developed by myself and my wife. A combination of HTML, Flash and a few slideshow softwares (Soundslides, SlideshowPro and Monokai).

As for posting the images directly here, let's start with Asher's request.

It was shot at the GoVap orphanage, a place where it was very very very difficult to shoot. I was crying a lot at the sight of the many deformed and abandoned children. We have seen and shot several orphanages before but this was the most emotional for us.

We recently published 3 new photo essays from the Vietnam Project:

http://www.diluna.org/vietnam/essays/premature/
http://www.diluna.org/vietnam/essays/trafficking/

More info at http://www.diluna.org/vietnam

If you think it's useful I can keep posting few more images and describe how we created them.

Thank you very much for the comments!

HI Lucia and Nadia,

The picture of the child is of major importance. This is such a simple but powerful design, report and message. It's significance is so much greater. The photograph of this child who has no parents, nothing, not even a bed or covering, yet can sleep curled up like we might do in comfort, shocks and shames us.

The shadow from the right is ominous and to me symbolizes the bleak unknown of this child's future and so by reference the future of humanity.

I look forward to see more and hearing how others view your pictures.

Asher
