Hello!

Hi, my name is Rocky, and I'm new to the forum. Am returning to photography after many years. It was a passion as a teenager when I lived in Tokyo in the 60's where I shot and developed black and white. Imagine being able to go to a shop and see a legendary and magical lens like the Canon 50mm f/0.95!

I do Mac support at a local university though my formal education is in languages and literature. I also am an avid self-taught student of Photoshop, and I look forward to sharing and learning from others on this forum.

The dominance of birds in my photos comes from the ten (10) parrots my wife and I live with. They're our children and good friends with whom we're fortunate to share life with.

Welcome to the forums. Your gallery pictures are great and I expect you'll be sharing your knowledge as much as you learn from others. I've learned a lot here at the forums in just a couple of weeks and I'm glad I signed up. I'm sure you will be, too.

Do you have an f/1.0 lens? That must be a jewel! Not sure if it's possible, but the Leitz Noctilux, also a f/1.0, would make a handsome tool in my bag of lenses, assuming of course it could be adapted, and it was just that sort of thread on this forum that brought me here.

The fastest lens I have is a Nikon 85mm F/1.4. It has, as you can imagine, some very large pieces of glass in it. Does the EXIF information on any of my photos say F/1.0? Perhaps there's a glitch somewhere or perhaps I typed incorrectly.

I believe the EXIF data for maximum aperture was incorrect for a shot which shows detail of a roof, #17 in your Traditional Korea gallery. Your 85mm must do a great job in low light.

Ah, mystery explained. I used a 135mm manual lens for that shot and the D70 is not able to read the lens information. I guess it adds F/1.0 as default if there is no information.
The 85mm is a beautiful thing. Mixed with the D300's very low noise levels it's great for low light situations.
