Nikon takes the lead

With all the rave reviews of the D300 and the D3 I find it hard to believe that canon is going to just set back and watch.
For years canon has given us calculated incremental increases. Now that nikon has made great strides forward I wonder what will come next from canon.
I applaud nikons new cameras and think it has to be a wake up call to canon.
I notice I haven't heard any new leaks from canon lately.

I would love to hear some thoughts on this.

As an A-mount user, I am hoping that Nikon`s leap is actually a Sony development. I expect to see all brands with major improvements in the near future.
