This is truly beautiful in its simplicity and honesty, David. I'm a real mug for compositions like this that frame natural geometries so compellingly. The darkness is so dark, the light washes the wall to reveal its texture, the glare from the painted lines makes the glow. As a crowning touch I particularly appreciate that you resisted the probably urge to convert this to b&w, although it looks like you did do a sepia conversion, no? The tint of the light areas really adds to the emotion more than simple gray tones would provide. I also like the symmetry of the composition; it's perfect for this scene.
Well done, David. I would expect to find such an image on the cover of Aperture.
