Last Sunday I went to nearby Mojave desert for a recon trip for a big shoot next (now coming) weekend. While doing this I also got a chance to take a few shots with a local model who liked my work and was interested in expanding her own horizons. Below are few samples from this trip. Mostly natural light, one is fill-flashed. 5D2 + 70-200/2.8 IS USM

You obviously has a great time! I like the match of the models color, the orange cloth and the flowers. Did you need a fan or the wind just was that cooperative? What was the second one like without cropping? I'd like more at the left, in fact I'd like more of the landscape!

The 3rd one might be interesting in B&W. It should work well. That's my feeling. The color here is not doing anything for me. In the pictures with flowers, OTOH, these pictures reward for the colors they show.

Did you need to polish the skin?

Wind... I guess you haven't been to Mojave for quite some time... It's *always* a strong wind there, particularly in the poppies reserve. I kinda planned on it, hence I brought the chiffon:-)

Can you elaborate on the "skin" question? We used some baby oil, but not too much, I hope...

No, I didn't polish the skin in post. The skin is fairly as was.
