New RSP profile for skin tones

I had prepared a lengthy post and accidentally deleted it before posting, so I will keep this short.

I switched to using Silkypix since I did not like the results I was getting with RSP on skin tones. Dave Knechtges saw one of my posts and emailed me about a 5D profile he created for RSP. I have been using it for a few days and really like it - the skin tones are much more pleasant and there is more room in the headlights. Check out his website for more information and his contact information (I have no affiliation with him): http://www.knechtges.org/ColorProfiles.html.

I think you will be very pleasantly surprised and you don't have much to lose (I think the profile is around $10 with a free minor upgrade). Anyway, below are some comparisons I did between RSP with CE lowsat and RSP with Dave's profiles (there are more comparisons on his page). All I did after adjusting the files was to switch between the two color profiles. I took these shots a few hours ago on the 5D at ISO800:

RSP plus CE:

I would be interested to hear others' thoughts as well.

Peter

Thanks Kyle, I replied to your post in that same thread. All I can say is that I am seeing a dramatic improvement in skin tones, enough to bring me back to RSP as my main converter from Silkypix.

I would love to see other people's thoughts if they try it out.

I was going to comment before but did not--but have gone back and read Kyle's response elsewhere. I have to agree with him--I found the towels, teeth--to def. have a yellow caste in particular and side by side they seem somewhat 'jaundiced' (I, too, am viewing on a calibrated monitor).

BTW--when I read Dave's page, he says that his profile is for the 10D. Having had D30, D60, 10D, 20D and now 5D, I know that, for instance, you can't use the camera profiles made for each camera interchangeably in C1 or RSP (well, you can---but the results aren't as satisfactory). He noted at the bottom that you could write him to try the profile for a 10D--but never mentioned the 5D. Did he create a 5D profile as well?

Yes, he created a profile for the 5D as well, which is what I am using, although I can't find the webpage where he has them. I will ask him for the link and post it. I may have made the WB a bit too warm in what I posted - I don't think it is indicative of his profile, but perhaps my lack of skill (this was done a bit hastily).

Since this is a RSP issue and I don't want to bounce back and forth on the two forums I will post my replies there (the RSP forum).

Thanks Kyle
