Dorothea Lange—well known for her FSA photographs like Migrant Mother—was hired by the U.S. government to make a photographic record of the “evacuation” and “relocation” of Japanese-Americans in 1942. A book has recently been published about the censored photographs: https://anchoreditions.com/blog/dorothea-lange-censored-photographs

Jerome,

Once again we are in debt to your awareness and insight. I am grateful.

What's stunning about such statements is the bold brash audacity, (to state a lie as the truth), when we realize it's coming from a carefully vetted leader from a country with claim to civil values. This process of propagating "alternative facts" seems to work.

Here in the USA, President Trump's supporters actually believe the "de-Judaification" of the Holocaust is about time and appropriate, 5 million stealth Mexican aliens exist and voted for Hilary Clinton, artificially raising her popular vote and that Muslims visitors are a mortal threat to the USA.

What most folks do not know is that here in Los Angeles, at the time of the building of the railroads, Chinese men were not legally "persons", couldn't legally enter the city nor legally get married. An entire secret city was burrowed under the elegant buildings of downtown LA by Olive Street and that's where Chinese life continued as underground moles.

If a Chinese man was knifed and succumbed, it was not murder as no legal "person" had been killed!

So this is the background to the rounding up of Japanese Americans. We already had established the fact that certain races had inherent worthlessness. Even if folk didn't specifically know the facts of our actual dealings win Chinese workers, brought in to build the railroads, perhaps that "de tuning" of national conscience is what allows for suddenly massive action against an additional racial or cultural group singled out for opprobrium, hate, banishment or worse.

Could it be that so-called "Civilization" is merely a garment of fashion fitting with the whims of the times.

What is interesting is the apparent need to announce "alternative facts" when singling out a group as the "vermin de jour"! Apparently it's practical to announce some justification even if it is so obviously concocted.

Everyone, please, please, click through Jerome's link to Lange's work on the Japanese Americans herded away to squalid detainment camps in World War II.

This is knowledge that you must integrate and help to spread.

Thank you all,

Asher

Asher,

The internment camps for Japanese Americans was a topic for history at school here - isn't this the case elsewhere?

I saw the pictures earlier and it is good to see these here.

There is one name that should be mentioned here as well - Fred Korematsu.

Some more pictures (by Dorothea Lange and others) here.

Related. The one who does not learn from history...

Best regards,
Michael
