Default Robert Frank

Interesting article in the New York Times centered on a 1950's photographic road trip by Mr. Frank:

Glimpses of cultures not one's own are challenging- I struggle with this daily and am sadly not doing nearly as well as Mr. Frank.

I went to the exhibit this weekend and really enjoyed it despite the crowd.

The best part for me was the contact sheets...

You could really understand some of his thinking. Plus you can see his shooting methods. The famous shot of the New Orleans Trolley was one of two. The first he blew the exposure then corrected it quickly to get that fabulous photo. Other times as in the Elevator Girl he works it over with 14 shots.

Highly recommended.

Wow! Thanks for showing us those contact sheets. I have been a great lover of Robert Franks work amongst many other photographers too.

I hold all those masters of this art in high regard, it goes without saying really.
