Track & Field Day Week III

I'm still new to shooting track and field. This is the 3rd week of this season, and my 4th meet to shoot ever. Still learning and having fun. I used Mark IIn, 200 f/2.8...in manual, AI servo...ISO 300.

Jeff, I like what you show!

The first one with the dust lifted up is unusual.

What frame rate were you shooting and are their others of her running toward you or leaping into the air? That must make a great sequence.

Jeff I really like the first two. The other two suffer, in my opinion, from not showing the faces of the subjects. Also in the last one I would like to see it straightened so the background is level.

The second shot might be improved somewhat by a looser crop (did I really say that?) to impart more of an impression of height. As it is, for all we know he might be eight inches off the ground. ;-)

I often crop my soccer shots to emphasize or even to exaggerate the height of the jumps. Here are a couple of examples.
