Photosynth Demo

Hi,

A few of you might have seen this link over at DPR, but anyhow...

http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/129?

It's a demo of some new technology that enables you to view ridiculous amounts of photography in a new way.

Even more impressive is the fact that it is able to link together photos taken in the same place into a sort of virtual 3d model that you can move around and zoom in on. Hard to explain, easier to watch the video!

There's also an interactive demo you can download from the Microsoft Labs site:

Enjoy,

Hi Andrew,

There has been at least two other threads here on opf wrt this since last year. (search on 'photosynth', not that it isn't work in progress, but I do not think the link is anything new. If it's the cathedral thing, it's been fudged.

Best wishes,

Ray

Ray - Sorry my fault, didn't do a check first.

The link I posted is indeed available from one the posts in the earlier threads this year. Won't be offended if this thread is removed.

It certainly looks like interesting technology, but how useful is of course another matter!

Cheers,
