Foto 3, Fort Collins Colorado: June 6th-8th 2008 An unusual Convention for all photographers, but especially those dedicated to photography that ends up on a wall or in a collection. Anyway, that's what people do or aspire to do when they go back home! Let us know if you have been there in previous years. For sure, it's a meeting that you might enjoy reading up about and even plan to visit.

Foto3 is grand in design and simple in concept. It's geared to the more advanced enthusiast, art photographer and working professional. It's combines the efforts of 3 driving forces: APUG, Calumet and View Camera. It covers all types of photography, digital and film, everything one might hope for. I think that the Foto 3 website here is definitely worth exploring. Besides, that area of Colorado is full of stunning photographic opportunities.

Actually, given the pedigree of Colorado as a venue for photographers, it really might be better called Foto4!

APUG: There are very many many people who still love the craft or working with real film! Collectors and museums still do recognize a great platinum or silver print. Film photography in this case, tends to be a much more slowed down way of making pictures because a lot more thought, planning and craft is often put into creating that rare final museum quality print. APUG is very active website and forum of photographers dedicated to such analog photography. Some might even accuse them of being fanatics. Try them and post a picture from your Canon D30! Still, the work of no small number of these rather purist photographers is remarkable.

VIEW CAMERA: is the journal for large format photography and has a high standing as a resource for those producing fine art prints.

If you happen to get a copy, likely you'll keep it for ever as each issue is packed with great experience and beautiful photography. I keep returning to my older copies and always get something more to enjoy.

Calumet: Is a major Photographic supply house and chain of stores serving the dedicated photographer. They carry a large inventory like other superstores but in addition offer lines of professional gear under their brands.

Foto3 is a great convention, trade show and collection of fabulous workshops. There are pre-conference workshops on landscape photography, the portrait and the figure, traditional darkroom, scanning and digital output, alternative processes, and more! "It is dedicated to the art and craft of photography. Bringing together the ideas and resources of three conferences that have been held separately in the past– View Camera, APUG and Calumet – Foto3 provides a venue for all photographers to display their work, to learn, to share and to broaden their interests and advance their skills and knowledge. We look forward to your feedback and seeing you at the conference! -The Foto3 Team"
