Default Monitor Calibration What device to buy

In the past my monitor has been calibrated by a third party but I plan to start doing it myself. As printer calibration is not needed I look at devices like Eye-One2, Spyder2, MonacoEZcolor and MonacoOPTIX.

Is there any consensus about which one to get and which one to avoid?

Monaco (X-Rite) OPTIX with EyeOne Display a close 2nd (I actually prefer it's software). Sypder a distant 3rd.

and Eyeone Photo? When would you suggest this? Only when printer calibration is also needed?
