The balance in an open forum! What's belongs and what doesn't!

To make things clear!

We do have a right to discuss materials that are for sale. We do not have to deal with all aspects of anything, just the aspects we find relevant, interesting.

We can deal with an aspect of an camera, lens, processinf service, safari trip, repairs or what have you! OPF cannot intervene in disputes, although if products need fixes or firmware or plain don't function sharing that information is what we are about. We do happen to have MFRS representatives and or software team members in OPF. They are here to be helpful.

We need to know if something helps your photography. We prefer the positive. Discussions can be as deep as you like on the facts. However, we cannot be personally attacking people or else being dismissive of peoples photography.

This means we have to be honest and open but not disrespectful.

We do not, however want to have ad hominum attacks and if I am informed of a specific instance then, of course we always look into it. Just to remind everyone, there is a symbol for reporting inappropriate posts, including threats, child pornography, personal attacks and so forth which do not speak well of a professional community.

This symbol is found on the top right hand corner of every post in OPF. It looks like this

Click on it to report an offensive post.

We respond as fast as we receive the notice! Don't expect the moderators to find everything. Everyone has jobs and there are too many posts to check. We do not and will not run a censoring service apart from using common sense to respect one another and be professional. This is a public forum and it is up to people who use it to report to us anything that they feel departs from the TOS.

Nothing however, should be taken as stifling people to express what they like or dislike about any object or process offered to photographers, here or elsewhere. OPF prides itself on being a self-regulated open community where balance is achieved through open discussion

Thanks for being understanding.

Asher
