I took this photograph at a temple I happened upon in the hills. I was taking a two day trip by myself to think and not talk. One of the things most heavily on my mind was, "Am I a good person?" I never answered that but perhaps thinking about my actions and their consequences is more important than having an answer.
This Buddha was at the base of a large stone lantern and the early afternoon sun was throwing strong shadows. I liked how the face of Buddha was coming out of the shadows, symbolising the enlightement that comes from meditiation. However, if you look to the left, you can see a dark shadow of Buddha's face falling across the light. It isn't obvious, but I think it summed up how I was feeling; I'm good and bad and maybe through deep thought I can be more good than bad.
What I like about Buddhism (I follow it as a philosophy, not a religion) is Buddha's smile.
