I went to Apple for the one day sale and came up with a 500G FireWire drive. I plugged it in to my tower and -a voice from Leopard -- immediately asked "is this the drive I was waiting to do the thing I do with TimeMachine?"
That was not my intention, what I wanted was to offload all the things I have in my two internal drives, so that at the end I would end up with a skinny computer. Now I have a fat Mac AND a fat external drive that cost me two hundred dollars ...
The problem I see with TM is that it will be difficult to maintain in terms of consumption of space.
I think that what I could do is to burn to DVDs and have things in the external backed up, then I could delete the data on the computer.
The other problem with TM is that you cannot go and delete something that TM is backing up to save space, can you?
I would like to know what protocol or system other photographers are using to deal with the information creation problem...
