What other ways do you know of leading a viewer's eye? There are very many.

Do the "extras" also lead the eyes too?

The sunlight on the stream, the arch frame leading towards cone. The small patch of the sky, and of course the boatman at the end.

A boatman with a high contrast color would detract from one roaming around the image. It would immediately attract action. The weighting has to be right. Called the ‘ mass’ in design.
