Sobralia: after Dr. Francisco Martinez Sobral, virginalis: white. An orchid that grows on embankments so often seen on rural road cuts.

Yes, with her white bridal dress, I can believe she has indeed indeed a trusted virgin!

But she is too beautiful to stay that way!

I was astonished to read that this plant has 28,000 related distinct species in its genus!

....and I had thought they just came from places like Hawai and Thailand in the Far East. Surprisingly they are found all over the planet.
