Acrylic painting by Carla

Doug Kerr

Well-known member
As you perhaps know, Carla has in recent times taken up acrylic painting.

Her first studies were by way of workshops held at a local craft shop. Her works from that era were wonderful, but the instruction was not very sophisticated.

She has now taken up study under a well-respected local painter, living in the village of La Luz, just north of Alamogordo, and home to many wonderful artists and artisans. (Archaeologists believe that H. sapiens sapiens have lived in that are for at least 100,000 years.)

Here we see her first work of that era, "Got Rocks".

Douglas A. Kerr: C. C. Crittenden: Got Rocks

(Carla paints and writes under her maiden name, C. C. Crittenden. Yes, Crittenden is a prominent Cherokee family name, thank to a British officer who found a Cherokee girl irresistible. Completely understandable!)

Best regards,

Doug

I remember when you showed an image quite a while ago of Carla's first attempts at painting. She has progressed so much; very cool. :) Maggie

This is fabulous! Does the place exist or its from Carla’s mind or memory.

I would love to see a series of photographs from the first sketches on the canvas to the blocking in the clouds and rocks until it was done! Then both of you will
Be gainfully employed in the project!

Hi, Asher,

This is fabulous! Does the place exist or its from Carla’s mind or memory.

It was actually done (loosely) from a photo her instructor had. She needs to find out where it was taken.

Be gainfully employed in the project!

It would be wonderful to do that - maybe for her next project!

Thanks.

Best regards,

Doug
