Still Photo:
Visit this new forum in Photography Discussions. Uniquely it is freeform! It was devised as a kind of entrance debating salon for current and new OPF members. We have made the place open to any photography subject. However, selected threads will be gradually migrated as appropriate to the place in OPF were that particular topic would be expected. So we have the best of both worlds: freeform initiation of topics and then organized logical structure.
Originally this forum was created as a kind of extension of the Reid Reviews, RR, web site, yet open to all. Within a few days this idea morphed to be a broad, open welcoming hall, an idea incubator. So when a new thread has considerable traction it will be moved into the correct room within OPF. Putting subjects where they can be easily found is a common feature of OPF. We even split threads where theire is a daughter topic that deserves its own spece.
Still Photo is devoted to the tools and practice of photography as a visual art. Any kind of picture, any kind of camera and any kind of lens might be the subject of discussion. Some of the topics may arise from articles on Reid Reviews while many others will not. For more details go to Still Photo here .
So, we are delighted to welcome the Photographers from Reid Reviews, (RR)* and others interested in photography. We have just the right place for them to relax, feel at home with us and enter the OPF world.
This addition to OPF will provide a beneficial exchange of strengths. There are no barriers in OPF, so anyone in OPF can post anywhere, just try to stay on topic. Don't think that there is a line between us, we just want to make a special entry place, but the welcome is internal and external too.
Although this forum was generated to accommodate a sudden influx of new OPFrs coming from RR, the idea is one we want to continue as it's freeform structure seems a good idea to experiment with. This way, threads don't have to be in the right place. Just post. This forum is still a work in progress. It's an experiment and we hope it will provide another entrance to people coming to OPF. We expect it will stimulate more topics being discussed and also make OPF immediately of interest. Our initial strong support and participation from long term and new OPFrs hold promise that this is a good idea.

* To those unfamiliar with RR, this is a subscription site with excellent reviews on photographic subjects, especially fine small-sensor cameras and lenses. Sean has great talent as a wedding, travel and street photographer with a natural style to especially B&W photographs. He's well known for his writings on Photography, especially some unique contributions to Luminous Landscape and other photography websites. I'm a long time RR subscriber BTW, but there's no formal or financial connection between OPF and RR.
