My World: Maghreb

We have been trekking thru the Rif and
Atlas mntns in Maghreb 4 sometime.

We had a few mishaps along the way
This has curtailed many of our plans
But the journey continues

My D700 taken along at last moment
Is dead.
The leica took a very hard knock on a
Granite mtn rock and is misaligned

The netbook crashed and io controller is
History

So not only have we lost the saved pics
We have lost storage space

I am making do with my limping leica
And often borrowed dlux4
But we r out of sd cards

Having a marvelous time amongst marvelous
People and a breathtaking country

Sorry no pics

Hi Fahim,

So good to hear from you again. It sounds like you have taken some serious beating along the way, are you OK? I certainly do hope so. Take care and be safe please. Pictures are not important, your health is.

Of course, Cem is so right! We want you back whole, the two of you! Be safe. As for the hard drive, likely as not you can recover everything. Sorry about the knocks but those Atlas Mountains will outlast all of us!

Hi Fahim
passing by around, I see your post and of course Cem is right. Perfectly right.

You're safe and that's the main thing.
I'm sure you have filled your brain with many pictures. For sure these ones will be safe and saved in the right place for all your life.

Kind regards, keep up the good journeys :)

Fahim,

We all wish you both a speedy recovery. It's like you guys think you are doing stunts in some special US TV Survivor Reality program! What on earth hit you? Was this a collision or a fall?

I'm sure you got good medical help, but hand cuts can be a real problem if they get infected. I trust it's superficial and there's no real damage.

Thanks Asher
A few sutures and she was ready to go
No infections -a second check confirms she is
Good to go

My nail injury my stupidity-little painful but fine now

She took a fall and cut her hand while trying to get a grip

We shall have a thorough re-evaluation in a few days.
My worry was my meds increase the risk of bleeding
Check ur email

Fahim,

first I wish you both have a fast and good recovery. May the good memories of the last four weeks prevail. I hope that you are able to recover the data from the HDD as well.

The Atlas is one of the places I hope to be able to go in a not too distant future.
The closest I ever managed until now was Taroudannt - ‏تارودانت
I liked the city very much.

Best regards,
Michael

Lonely planet guides

First-michael tks for stopping by.
Atlas mountains need time to even
Get a grasp

Now to Lonely planet guides that all
Seem to lugging around..

For Westerners, by Westerners, with
Western opinions. No problem with this
At all for me.

I take issue with unjustified criticism
Leveled due to Western ignorance and
worse a seemingly ' we know it all '
Attitude.

P.S Ayesha's d-lux4 is dead. System error.
The iPhone remains functional..for now

An example...

1 US $ I changed for 8.34 dirhams this
Morning.

Told Ayesha--our lunch should not exceed
1 US$.

Olives, oven fresh bread hot, bottle
Of medium sized mineral water,
50 gms of beef Kabab hot of the grill...

Blame Ayesha for the kebab..
The kebab cost a little more than a
1$.
The mixed olives, bread, and water
6 dirhams.

Better tasting than the best money
Can buy...anywhere. I know I have
Tried it all.

Point is eat with the locals as one
Step to understand a culture.

Not necessarily the one in the guide
Books.

Hello Michael.

I have not been to Tarodaunt. But have been to Agadir.

Your shots bring back memories of small towns dotted along the Atlantic coast.

Thanks for sharing.
