Before the Floods

The story:
January 11 2011 - The Brisbane River broke it's banks in the afternoon, causing significant flooding to large parts of the city.

I took this a few hours before that happened - it had been wet (consistent rain) all summer and had never really stopped in the weeks leading up to it. When I took this, it was still business as usual, but there was a certain apprehension in the air - to me this captures the mood quite well.

I'm still not 100% positive where I took this - I have it narrowed down to a specific street, and I've even moved nearby recently, but I think enough was damaged and changed during the floods or the cleanup that it's hard to tell.

Thanks for looking!

The story itself is important here, thanks for sharing!

Sam Haynes: Before the Floods

I'd have like the picture even without the introduction, but I'm so grateful no to have the real story. It allow us to be in your seat, having that weird feeling that something is about to happen.
