Starting a project to scan family photos from years gone by. Unfortunately most negatives are lost.
Prints are available, but faded as I go back in years. have to preserve what I have.

Seems as if it was only yesterday. Two from today:

Moi, at age 21yrs..final year university..

I can see where your children/grandchildren (in part) get their good looks from!

What a fun idea...but I'm going to add a "now" next to the "then." Me at age 8 and one a year or two ago (51 or 52).

Here's Carla at the age of 16 (1954) and her firstborn, Cheryl (now, sadly, deceased):

Here's Carla almost 51 years later (age 66, 2005):

She's lovely, Doug, and I'm very sorry to hear of her loss. However, I think she qualifies for what the kids call "a hottie!"

Clayton, your self portrait has a lot going for it! I'd say more but this isn't a crit thread.

On the right, we see moi, ca. 1952, marching, as part of the Lakewood (Ohio) High School Band, at some civic parade. (I played trumpet.)

DAK-NAR2.jpg

To the left, Nancy, a clarinet player, and the smartest girl in the school, on whom I had a continuing serious crush since Junior High School and through High School. We were good friends, but she never gave me a tumble, "romantically". (I was as nerdlich then as now.)

We completely lost touch not long after graduation from high school. She married another high school classmate, who became chief accounting officer of a significant regional electric utility.

We had our first real dates (although she would even today shudder to hear them called that) when I was her escort at our our 45th high school reunion (at which time we were both widowed, she for a number of years, myself fairly recently). My former buddies were well impressed.

But the "chemistry" situation was just as it had been 45 years earlier.

Carla and I attended the 50th reunion. My former buddies were really well impressed.

Best regards,

Doug

Rachel, thanks for picking up the thread.

Down here parts we say ' a girl turns into a beautiful lady '.

I am sorry, I do not have pics of my childhood. My parents were struggling to feed us, and cameras
were something we had never heard of. I have a few pics of my mom, as she lived till the 90s. No pic of father!

Take care. And I feel honored about you know what!

Doug, thanks for participating. I am sorry for your loss. Time can only heal the pain but erase the memories.

And do you still play the trumpet!

Best.

Folks, I guess I have to post a recent pic of myself. This was taken about a year ago at a bankers conference in London.

My 2 sons:

the one on the left is an MD specialising in interventional radiology and the youngest on the right
is in 2nd year med school.

Sorry for the small size, can't seem to find the negs or the org print.

Seems like yesterday!

Fahim, Clayton, Rachel and Doug,

Thanks for giving us glimpses of you and your loved one's going way back. The diverse quality of the pictures adds a sense of genuine humanity that is missing from a lot of formal portraits. This is a sign of a community where there is friendship and trust! Self disclosure is important in real relationships.
