Actually, Antonio, whenever people sell art, they also sell an invisible package status and inner membership to a refined class of art afficionados, but mostly with "art" that can be seen, touched or felt. Folk have been presenting black, grey or white "empty" canvasses in major galleries since the 1980's at least, and fetching handsome sums for their "cutting edge" art!
But isn't the "Grand daddy of them all", the scene in Hans Christian Anderson's
(Danish,"Kejserens nye Klæder) "The Emperor's Clothes", when the little boy stuns everyone by asking "Why the Emperor is going around butt naked?".
In this case, the picture you show is a hoax made from
this stock picture by removing the pictures from the gallery walls!
