I don't think it would do much good even if he did quit smoking it is possible that he could get hit by a bus soon afterwards.

Not so, James as that assumes some sort of predetermined fate one way or another, LOL!
The chances of being hit by a bus are about 1 in a million, whereas the chance of getting emphysema, throat cancer, heart disease and lung cancer is about 10-30%!
