New 12.47mp APS-C Sony Sensor

I see sony have today announced a new 12.47mp APS-C cmos chip incorporating "Column-Parallel A/D Conversion" providing the potential for 10.39 frame/s (12 bit).

So no doubt this find its way into Alpha dSLR replacement?

It looks like a derivative of the new sony cmos chip made its way into the new alpha 700, although the frame rate was kept to a very useable 5fps (18 raws) v its 10fps chip spec capability.

Will this be a 40D or D300 contender? I can imagine a few of my Minolta buddies will be feeling happier today.

BTW, it also comes with a 920,000 pixel 3" TFT

Hi John,

It is such good news for Minolta guys. The lenses must be really inexpensive. Who knows which are the great ones? I guess they never had image stabilization!

Still it loks like, at last we are getting a playing field!
