In Perspective, Planet: Making a Woman Anchor to be a Honey Pot!

Asher Kelman

OPF Owner/Editor-in-Chief
Fox News was famous for it, long legged blonde pretty women with cameras getting a slow establishing shot running up their legs to their short skirt and magically becoming wide to reveal the other newsfolk, this time, legs beneath the table, who are the discussants of the news of the moment.

Well, a lot of men were fired, we lost the slow motion videos of floating breasts of the requisite Victoria Secret models on the runway, as they complained about the cultural war on Christianity!

Well the male bosses got found out and were fired.

In the meanwhile, last night, look at ABC News table. Is her chair not taller than the male discussant across from her? His thighs are totally under the table, hers are displayed well above it! If her feet were not crossed, I wonder if her thighs could actually make it under that glass top?

Here is Brooke Baldwin, one of the most well-prepared news anchors, dressed in a short skirt, neckline conveniently deep and loose enough to allow her right breat to edge out and greet us. So we are being given a Professional Woman served as sexual bait. That is their honey pot!

Meawhile, the screen has banners about vulgarity in the news.

Brooke, you cannot be used this way! Let them run the cameras up the legs of your male colleagues first, LOL. It will be so obviously silly.

We respect you Brooke, because you are first class as a news anchorl. So please CNN, look at your own videos! The use of the camera to project you as a sexual offering or reward for us watching, is likely to fall under the category of hate speech.

Sexual exhibition, in art or in movies or humor, which is clearly presented as such, for intellectual challenge, debate or entertainment, is a protected form of "speech" in the USA. We cannot censor such expression!

However, the folk cannot be humiliated in the process. But Brooke was not hired by CNN for the purpose of being a ratings "HoneyPot"! This is, at least, an insult to the audience and to a worthy professional who has earned our respect. We cannot allow people to be trivialized like that.

I personally commit to being more sensitive to such manipulations and to treat women better!

Certainly, on this forum, we will not allow anyone to imply that women or other groups can be treated with such disrespect.

I am going to take advice from OPFrs and update our terms of service, TOS, so there cannot be any obvious or coded visual manipulations to mark groups we should protect, as lacking the worth and standing we expect and demand for ourselves.

.........or tell me I'm over reacting!

If CNN had chosen the male colleagues for the shape of their body, maybe female spectators would not find the show silly at all. Just sayin'...

Perhaps, but men would not allow that as they would be offended at even the suggestion that attractive male bodies could seduce them to watch CNN!

We are in a time of hypocracy and over reaction. There is a witch hunt atmosphere and even an accusation gets a fellow fired. Seduction is no defense, LOL! Due process gets second rating to the appearance of political correctness.

It's rather all blown out of proportion.

Still, in the USA, woman can also be privileged for being pretty. As an example, almost no male weather presenters are hired these days. The selected candidiates seem to be very pretty women and dressed provocatively.

But the abuse, although ramapant throughout all job sectors, is noway the most serious part of the problem! This may surprise you. Consider that in the USA, some 60-70% of marriages fail in differnt surveys. Take 60% of woman with little daughters, and there are lot of souls at risk. But what happens to them. Well 65% of that 60% suffer sexual abuse!

Daughters of single mothers are not protected enough. There is no biological inhibition to deter sex betwen a the new "father figure" and the naive female child". The facts are that some 65% are sexually abused by the mothers men-friends, lovers, relatives, friends or eventual husband. This terror impacts the siblings who cannot protect their sister vicitim and so grow up scarred with unrelenting guilt. So the entire family is damaged! Such scars influence our entire society! We are actually breeding patterns of learned abuse!

When an adult, worldly aware, woman gets attacked, she is not confused. She's hurt, horrified and angry, but never confused! She fully understands she has been violated! She can at least not blame herself and has a chance of healing. The abuse of young children, however, leads to shattering of the child's self-esteem, as they lack developed internal references and anchors to fathom the meaning of sexual behavior towards them by people, they trust, which is confusing and makes them feel guilty!

So yes, the current bright spotlight on abuse of adult women in the workplace is long overdue. But seriously, folk, that's not the most pressing problem. The effects on children is on a far, far larger scale and I would argue far more damaging to our society and cultural values.

Asher

A further chunk of abuse by poor women or exconvicts at the hand of the landlords, apartment supervisors and officers in low income subsidised housing. These women are powerless to resit demands for sexual favors to maintain a roof over their head.

Hi Asher

What about the little girl who killed her parents and then complained about being an orphan? Main stream media is run by advertising executives to sell advertising space. What else do you expect in a world of fake news, fake boobs, fake nails , fake eyelashes and fake traffic reports.

You make accurate points and I don't disagree. The best thing people could do is just turn this stuff off a quit watching.

My wife spent many years working in the department of Youth Forensics and Psychiatric Services for the government. She says that you are absolutely right but nobody wants to talk about these things.

Essentially this was a prison that locks up children ,boys and girls, that have committed notorious brutal crimes in many of the cases.

The News, is not "fake" on CNN. The News is a necessary part of defense of a society from abuse of power by politicians. How can the branches of government work if no one has a lantern to illuminate the recesses where secret deals are made?

The News may be tainted, just as a mountain stream with crystal water can actually have noxious waste from a camp site or cannery a little up stream!

We have to keep them honest too!

My view is that CNN and most other MSM (main stream media) outlets are more concerned about ratings than they are journalistic integrity. I agree with some of your points here but how can the MSM hold a lantern to the various branches of government when they themselves have no credibility?

This is a serious problem. Yes we need to hold them accountable but it would appear that they have lost sight of there duties as journalist's and are in need of a major overhaul.

Please have a look at this following story from a reporter that I respect.

The subject is on misusing serious qualified professional news reporters and anchors as sexy objects. Let's leave out the topic of news veracity from this.

Our daughters, sisters and wive's compete to win a coveted akilled professional job. We wouldnt promote anceue surgeon by her curves. We treat anchor women with such flippant disrespect!

Hi, Asher,

As an example, almost no male weather presenters are hired these days. The selected candidates seem to be very pretty women and dressed provocatively.

In New Mexico, which, although larger than Poland, is principally served by TV stations in only a single city, most of the weather presenters on the network affiliate stations are men. In one case, one of the team of weather presenters is a rather attractive (and I will say, buxom) woman. I would hardly call her wardrobe "provocative".

But then this is New Mexico.

Best regards,

Doug

Asher, Brooke has always worn short skirts. Google her name and images. It is her choice to show off her legs which are getting little bigger. Lol
Jenna Lee on Fox married to the Navy Seal was really messed with by the idiot Conan O'brein. She wore longer shirts on Fox and was critical of some of her female reporters that liked to wear shorter ones.

Don,

Your link is perfect. Brooke clearly points a finger to the expectations that women who want to succeed in the news shows are pressured to dress seductively.

(As an aside, when you look at Conan is crass and a faiure even as a clown. He was booted out of the most coveted spot to replace Jay Lennon in the Tonight show for that reason!)

Brooke obviously has no wish to be treated with disrepsect and in totally aware of the pressures on her. But she pleads that as a mother and a wife, she should be treated for the body of news she presents not the sexiness of her body! Those are essentially her plea!

I think Brooke is comfortable with her body and likes how she looks in a short skirt. I thought in that photo she has a cute expression.

Being a woman I am passionate about women's rights which have come a long way but still not equal. I find Brooke a beautiful talented informed journalist. I watch her show most every day because of her style with or interaction with her guests to be very well engaged. I have never looked upon her as a sex object in any way. My gender is beautiful in form. It is not to be made out to be another way. I can see why males think otherwise. Yes she has breasts, yes she has legs, yes she is beautiful. So I don't see the point or argument of sexualization . The form of beauty and sexualization is overtly and inaptly wrong here in my female opinion. btw guys She is pointing to her sneakers. every woman knows why, not her legs-

All true, Charlotte and beautifully put, as long it's the woman who is in total control, delivers her words and her gestures and poses as she feels from her own heart and mind.

But then, in my screen capture, it is different. Repeatedly, comes the camera to explore her legs. Is that the woman's decision? It sweeps up to her thighs lingers only enough to have flashed to the mind and of course back to the entire group. The men never get anything but the wide shot including everyone or just head and shoulders, for "talking heads". The men's thighs are always under the table in such a news commentary setting.

Furthermore, look again at the Brooke's own plea in her words: she asks that her "body of knowledge" be showcased to the people and the focus of everyone, not the form of her body. So the red line should be for the producers to limit themselves to what comes from her control and command center in her own brain!

My gender is beautiful in form. It is not to be made out to be another way.

It would just appear to make sense that, for any species reproducing by sexual mating, males would be attracted by female characteristics and female would be attracted by masculine characteristics.

I am first of all thinking this has been digitally enhanced to make us think this way. As I said I watch her all the time. She doesn't in any way portray herself as a sexual bargain for the show. Men will be natually attracted to a beautiful female. I think Jerome response was that! It is true one. hell she attracts me. Stevie Nicks attracts me so does many female artists.. although I am sexually attracted to men. The argument of this could go on and on. I don't think she is being used by CNN. She has a good mind and a nice body... so what?

A beautiful image, but it only attracts my esthetic sensibility, as a precious child or gracious floral bloom would. I am neither excited, annoyed or threatened, just so appreciative of this woman's skill and the models perfect form.

Early life and education[edit]
Brooke Baldwin was born in Atlanta, Georgia, where she attended The Westminster Schools, a private college preparatory school. She graduated with degrees in journalism and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001. She also studied at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City during her undergraduate years.[1][2]

Career[edit]
Baldwin began her career in 2001 at WVIR-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia, and later became the morning anchor at WOWK-TV in the Huntington and Charleston, West Virginia area. She later joined WTTG in Washington, D.C. as lead reporter for the 10 p.m. newscast.[1]

CNN[edit]
Baldwin joined CNN in 2008.[1] She anchors CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin from 2 to 4pm ET on weekdays and is based in New York City.

On July 8, 2011, Baldwin co-anchored CNN's special coverage of the final launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis (STS-135) from Kennedy Space Center.[3]

On January 14, 2012, she hosted a half-hour special music program called Soundcheck, which featured Wilco, Mavis Staples, Mumford & Sons, Ben Sollee, and Janelle Monáe.[4]

Baldwin's documentary "To Catch a Killer" won a Silver World Medal for Best Investigative Report at the New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards in 2012.[5] She was nominated for an Emmy for her coverage of the NYC chokehold death protests in wake of Eric Garner's death 2014.

Baldwin and Piers Morgan hosted CNN's coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee on June 3 and 5, 2012 in London.

She interviewed Steve Buscemi for Boardwalk Empire, Claire Danes for Homeland, Julianne Moore for Game Change and Lena Dunham for Girls at the 70th Golden Globe Awards in 2013.[1]

She covered President Obama's second inauguration in January 2013 from Washington, D.C.

In 2015 Baldwin hosted a town hall in Washington, D.C. on gun violence, for which she was a Peabody Award finalist.

Some people on Twitter criticized her during the 2015 Baltimore protests when she failed to correctly attribute comments she had heard from the community that veterans were responsible for the unrest – saying soldiers who become police officers "are coming back from war, they don't know the communities, and they're ready to do battle." She later apologized via Twitter and on-air the next day.[6] In the Washington Post Erik Wemple wrote an article "CNN's Brooke Baldwin shows rest of media how to apologize".[7]

In June 2016, Baldwin reported live from Orlando covering the victims and survivors of the Pulse nightclub scene of the second largest mass shooting in the U.S. where 49 people were murdered, and 53 injured.

On October 18, 2016, she criticized Donald Trump’s call for term limits on members of Congress by incorrectly saying that such limits already existed.[8]

On January 20, 2017, she covered President Trump's inauguration from Washington, D.C.

In 2017, CNN anchors are participating in Champions of Change – a CNN special showing the work of non-profit organizations. Baldwin selected The Heroes Project and filmed with founder Tim Medvetz and USMC Sgt Retired Kirstie Ennis in Joshua Tree National Park, California.

New Year's Eve Live[edit]
Baldwin hosts CNN's New Year's Eve Live with Anderson Cooper, and previously alongside Kathy Griffin as well – broadcasting live from New Orleans with Don Lemon. Previous locations: Jackson Square (2012-2014), Tipitinas (2015), The Spotted Cat (2016). Previously, Baldwin hosted from Nashville, Tennessee in 2010 and 2011.

Not to minimize any of your legitimate points but yes I do think you are over reacting. Are we to have a war on beauty? I am sure Brooke wore lipstick to all of her interviews when got this job. I am sure that she does not mind the attention either. The number one thing people buy is appearance, shiny cars, diamonds, shoes, and hand bags. But like you mentioned earlier there are more important things to fuss about. I wonder what kind of watch she wears?

Obviously a mistake on my part to ask a rhetorical quuestion and it has distracted you.

You ignore what she says! Just cocus on Brooke's fine words and her strong and clear wishes, "not to be pulbicised for a body just the body of her work". Dont address anything else or me or my attitudes. That's not significant. Its her!

I don't know much about this person apart from what is in this thread. Also she is not participating in the thread so I have not heard anything in her own words. Unless you have some reference of her words this is just hearsay.

However if those are her words according to you and want to portray her as a victim of circumstance that is fine. Everyone is exploited to some degree or another regardless of their profession. The question is really up to her as to whether or not she consents to it. But then again CNN is more interested in it's ratings than journalistic integrity so it might prove difficult for her to achieve her goals at CNN.
