Epson 3800 Printing Problems ?

Scott Comeau

New member
The problem that I have is the photo's printed on the Epson 1400 are much more glossy than the ones printed on the Epson 3800.

I have tried just about every print setting I can think of and nothing works to get the Epson 3800 to print glossy photo's like the Epson 1400.

Seeing the Epson 3800 is a much better printer than the Epson 1400

I can't understand what the problem could be ?

I like to hear any ideas or views you have to help me.

Thank You !

Scott

Hi Scott,

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you but here I am in the end :).
I was suspecting that you were doing "double profiling" or using the wrong profile. That's why I asked you for your settings. It seems that my hunch was right ;-).

Here is what you should do:

Print Document Box: Profile Adobe RGB 1998: OK
Color Handing: Photoshop Manages Colors OK
Printer Profile: Pro38 PGPP (set this on the CS3 print preview window)
Rending Intent: Relative Colorimatric OK
Blackpoint Point: On OK
Matchprint Colors: On OK
Show Bounding Box On OK

You then click on print button. Then click on the "Preferences" button.

Media Type Premium Glossy Photo Paper OK
Color: Color OK
Mode: Custom, and then click on advanced button
Printer Color Managment: should be OFF, not ICM! Otherwise you are double profiling!
Click on OK, and again on OK
Click on Print to print.

Enjoy! :)

Hi,

Many thanks for your nice reply, One question I can't find the one listed below:

Printer Profile: Pro38 PGPP (set this on the CS3 print preview window)

There does not seem to be any setting that I can change in the print preview window to do with
Print drivers ??

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Scott,

This is just out of my head, I do not have PS in front of me right now.

On the right hand side of the Print Preview windows, in the middle down towards the bottom, you'll find these options under each other:
Print Document Box: Profile Adobe RGB 1998
Color Handing: Photoshop Manages Colors
Printer Profile: Pro38 PGPP

If the color handling is not set to Photoshop, you won't see the profile option.

Cheers,
