I have visited NZ's beautiful south island - a photographer's paradise - twice now. It is, after all, just 'across the puddle' for me.
A few shots below just to tempt you. A solar halo over the Caples Ranges, south island, NZ, May 2010. I took quite a few shots of this phenomena with various filters and I cannot for the life of me work out which one this was as I don’t have a green one! Anyway, I liked the effect I have here. ![]() The Green Dream by Photography by Odille, on Flickr 1DsMkII & 16-35 lens Diamond lake, Paradise valley, near Glenorchy, south island NZ. To reach this area you cross the River Jordan and travel past Arcadia . . . It has a sign at the turnoff saying ‘No Exit’ and why would you ever want to leave? It was a misty, lowering skies sort of day which really made this picture. ![]() A Real Gem by Photography by Odille, on Flickr H2/P20/80mm f2.8 Lake Wakatipu, south island, New Zealand. This shot was taken in May 2010 when the Queenstown-Glenorchy road was temporarily closed by a rockfall. It was the day I was to go on a Landscape Photo workshop, and we went by road to a point before the closure, the transferred into launches to go around the blockage and then round the head of the lake by road to Kinloch. In my opinion, the most beautiful area of the south island. I grabbed this shot because I liked the way the boat’s wake mirrored the road. ![]() By road or lake P1Z7007 by Photography by Odille, on Flickr Canon 1DsMkII, 24-104 L f4 lens @ 49mm, f6.3, 1/250 The remains of the old Jetty at Kinloch - with the replacement issue to the left of the photo. ![]() Dawn, Kinloch #1 22-05-2010 _P1Z7063 by Photography by Odille, on Flickr Canon 1DsMkII & 16-35 zoom

Hi, Wonderful image, magnificent country...
Never been there though. I promised myself to go since I saw "Lord of the rings" trilogy and "King Kong" especially King Kong. It seems to be the whole planet in one Island. I wish I was with you...
