| Studio, Portrait, Still Life, Lighting Equipment and Technique Continuous and Strobe Lighting. (The Sun is considered continuous!) Great ideas are really ten a penny! Technique in setting up the subject is, of course, essential. However, the ability to bring out form, texture, tonality and color is where the skill in lighting provides all the keys to engraving one's ideas on the delivered picture. |

Hi guys,
So, I'll confess, I wanted to make a cool looking profile pic for my Facebook page! Before i unleash it on all my 'friends' I'd really appreciate some feedback! ![]() I converted my flat into a makeshift studio for this shot. This was the lighting setup: ![]() This lighting diagram shows the setup used to create this shot: Key light was from a Quantuum 600 fired through a large softbox angled down at the model (1/16 power). Fill light was a a Vivitar 285HV fired through a softbox camera right (1/4 power). Additional fill was from a white reflector on my lap. Many thanks, |

I'd have you swiping some of them off your face!

Hi Matt,
The level of pixelation is fine but I have another nit to pick. When you reduce the picture to the thumbnail size (which will be how it's presented on Facebook), it seems as if you are looking up rather than at the camera. Your gaze seems to wander. Perhaps it was the effect you have intended, I am not sure. ![]() Anyway, nice to meet you.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
@Asher, yes, the temptation to swipe the squares away was tempting, as they were very itchy! @Cem, I deliberately looked up as if to give the impression of being distracted. I agree, this does detract a touch when viewed at thumbnail size. Nice to meet you also

I like this idea - I guess my only suggestion would be to be less tentative in relation to the white squares. facebook works on square format - this image will crop really well nice work. |
