Calendar Project part 1

Hi,
It has been some time since my last post.

These are some examples of a substantial project i was asked to realize for a ladies soccer team:

The subject was to create a calendar showing the more femine side of the ladies without going the obvious (unclad) way:

These are some of the 'raw' material we will be using for the calendar 2007/2008.

C&C welcome.

I love it! Very intriguing and fun images. I like the new grey cards! You may be getting into patent infringement issues!~

What is the lighting setup and what camera and lenses for those who might want to learn from your work? How will the calendar be printed, CMYK on a big press or inkjet?

Hello Asher,

Work was done with Nikon D200.
For closeup i used the Nikkor 70-200/2.8 AF-S VR
Lighting is a 44cm beautydish on an elichrom Style RX 600 flash to camera left.

The 3/4 are taken with a Tamron 28-75/2.8
Lighting with an Octa 1.90m to camera right and strip 30x175 to camera left behind model, both on Style 600 RX.

For all i had an hairlight to camera right, 2.3 m from ground behind model as softbox 60x60cm on an elinchrom D-Lite 4.

From the 20 players and trainers i have a total of over 2000 pictures.

We just finished the selction of 50 photos for the calendar

I just launched a price quotation to see how far they can finance the project without sponsoring.

This is not the way this kind of project should be handled, but we had to profit from the break they had in their soccer season as the team would be too busy with their training and matches otherwise.

We rushed the sessions over 6 week-ends, sometime up to 20 hours from friday 19:00 until sunday 23:00

So now comes the editing part.

Living in a small country means a small number of copies, which means expensive price per copy.

We are looking for 500 calendars in 30x45cm size.

The story behind the grey cards is that the ladies started to become upset as i was presenting each a white balance reference card with every session. Finally they decided to show me the real things they are used to in their games :)

With all this i forgot to thank Frank Doorhof for his help/teaching/support :)
Having seen his work here at OPF, i attended 2 one on one workshops with him which helped me tremedeously and pointed me to the right studio equipment. I started with the elinchrom D-Lite 4 because they were attractively priced. After the 1st workshop with Frank i went for the Style 600 RX and the famous Elinchrom Octa 1.90m diameter.
