I have the 70-200L f/4 IS which is fantastic on my 5D. I also have the 100-400L IS which doesn't get used that much since I don't often need to be in the 200mm-400mm range and because it's a relatively slow and heavy lens. I most shoot landscape, casual portraits (a lot of my 5 year old daughter) and whatever looks interesting to me. I am not a pro and shoot for fun, while I do occasionally sell my prints. I also have the Canon 1.4x extender.
I am thinking about trading or selling the 100-400L and getting the 300 f/4L IS instead, for its faster speed and amazing optics. I could also throw on the 1.4x tc when I want to get more reach. While I am giving up the flexibility of the zoom, in the 100-200mm range I would much rather use my 70-200L, and at 300mm and 420mm (with the 1.4x tc) I would probably get better performance and easier handling with the 300mm f/4 IS.
Anyone else do this?
Thanks,
Peter
