Default The Bell Tolls! The Online Photographer...where was it? Now Back Online!

Bookmark this New TOP link

Everyone who knows Mike Johnston, loves his writings on photography and his blog at blogspot.com here His blog is one of the most avidly followed in the photographic world. He has humor and knowledge, insight and disrespect in a great package. His view is from a wider window that a lot of writers.

Mike was Editor-in-Chief of PHOTO Techniques magazine from 1994-200 and his independant quarterly printed letter magazine The 37th Frame was very popular for photographers. He has contributed regualrly to a number of respected publications, especially Michael Reichman's www.luminous-landscape.com

Well in the past 72 hours things got turned upside down when the blogspot robot police, for some reason, closed him down as a possible malicious spam site or something like that! No one to talk to! An expectation of being down for one week, the BOT auto reply said!!

So Mike is still here on this planet, alive in Wisconson and has escaped alien capture!

He acted swiftly to remake his blog in a new more robust environment. The new site of TOP is up now and will be further enhanced. If you're already a fan, enjoy! If not, visit and you will be rewarded.

Update: Just 10 minutes ago, a human at blogspot.com obtained access to Mike's plea for clemency and reinstated TOP with full access as if nothing had occured!

This is good news but it shows how dangerous the bots can be! Lucky for Mike that a human got access to the bot's court of judgement and he was reprieved. Who knows when and where they will strike again?

The bell tools, next time it could be for you!

Asher

Interesting take!

Mike's blog certainly must be in the top percentiles for a blog, and it IS a helpless feeling to think that he had to struggle to regain legitimacy!

Isn't this like a prelude to the increasing power of BOTS that make judgments on us.

Terminator? I forget the exact plot!
