Using Canon Super Teles without the Drop-in Filter?

Anyone shooting without the drop-in filter?
Since that piece of glass is not part of the optical formula
of the lenses, does it affect AF accuracy to shoot without?

Anyone ever do a comparison of images with and without the drop-in??

Canon counts this in there design, this is why the gelatin filter holder still has glass in it.

Most likely the difference is not detectable.
