Charlotte, this (to me) is one of your finest. That said, the dark patch at the left seems a bit heavy. I wonder if you've tried cropping a bit off? It's possible the image is best as it is, but I wondered about that.

Wow,

I am the cat among the pigeons, LOL! I am the dissenter. The color is not appealing to me and there's nothing that grabs me. The multitude of water droplets is nice but "nice" does not make a photograph. I see no subject or compelling composition that would make me linger, except to puzzle on the viagra effect it's having on everyone else!

I do like the color, which is probably a factor in it's appeal for me. The water droplets are nice also, but I like the shape and pattern of the leaves.

speechless is good! Thank you-

Rachel

thank you- this for me was a good metaphor for what was a plain looking flower or plant turned into the illusion of an underwater fairy tale with some ps work- it must be the artist/muralist in me that seems to always struggles with the photograher-
I also love this piece the deepest blue shadows and the water/dew drops makes me want to live in this "Story of a Lagoon" the rise of healing ones own self maybe- thanks again Rachel-

Asher

you could read my explanation to our Rachel and get an idea of what came from this ordinary plant to this "Mystical" thing which I suppose is hidden in all of us- could be deeply spiritual as well
looking at a thing and painting it a most arresting side beside the ordinary would be how my brain functions LOL "The Girl can't help it"
the depths of the blue shadowing is the deeper part of our spirit { though it is mine}
for where I have been of late health wise-this is a healing calling me {though I take a poetic option here}
thanks for your input I always enjoy it-

Charlotte,

I reread you poetic introduction so this is what I imagine and how I took poetic liberty!

charlotte Thompson: Blue Lagoon Spider Plant

DSC_0434-1_AK800.jpg

Morning Dew Lagoon, a Sketch from Charlotte's Spider Plant

Morning dew on a simple spider plant
I turned into a Lagoon of midnight tears
when one is alone

Morning dew on a simple spider plant,
I turned into a swan hidden amongst the leaves
Watching for the first doves of the morning.

Morning dew on a spider plant,
I turned into the dove and took to the sky
My pain washed away.

Asher, I can't say I like it as an improvement on Charlotte's image, but as an entirely new image, I like it a lot. It's fanciful and lyrical. That said, it might also be too "busy." Wondering what other people think.

H Rachel,

It was not intended as any improvement on Charlotte's image as I cannot get a grip on it to alter anything. Mine is merely a concept that I might build if I wanted to illustrate the thoughts expressed.

So, given the poetic thoughts she shares, if I was going to be imagining a lagoon starting from the spider plant, then I would be thinking of such a construct which I have merely blocked out. What I would likely do, if I really anted to to make such a picture, would be to go to such a place at dawn and photograph with my camera low. I have such a picture on film and if and when I find it, I'll post that.

I like this photo a lot, however, the lagoon aspect is lost on me. For me its negative and positive light balance make it flow well, and it captures some kind of timeless aspect. It makes me feel like we are in the black space, looking out into the dawn of a new day, still protected by the plant and and its serenity, perhaps a couple more sips of tea before we go down today's path?

A masterful overlay! I am jealous- as you know how much I do love them!
What you have done is combine the higher reaches of humanity with sky and a bit of curvature of the earth and combined it with my deep depths of the water {spirituality} but a great collaboration! the poetry works very well as a kind of explanation- I have saved this collab as if its ok with you I am going to get the photo made and frame it -it's so well done*

Rachel

I think the intention of Asher was not to intrude on the original work at all- but this was an inspiration for Asher-if I inspired one artist to do such a beautiful work then I am well pleased-

Mike

hello and welcome here-
I am so pleased to read your interpetation of this piece-for what others see of course may not be the intention of the artist however brings a new color of understanding to the work-one in which I may not have seen-which is fabulous in itself
thank you for your insightful input
