Worked on a few from the reception. It was difficult with a beer in each hand!

Charlotte-

Thanks.

Is the added blur noticeable in the first? Or any of them? I've been working on my blurring trying to find a balance so it's not noticeable.

I liked the first at the outset. Still would love to know the name of the flower, LOL! I did notice that the edge of this flower is very sharp. Was this sharpened too?

I was told it is a periwinkle.

No blurring was added to the flower photos as the DOF is already so thin at those distances. I usually only add some to people shots.

My process in CS5 for blurring is:
duplicate layer>
Gaussian blur at 3-5% with radius of 3>
alt+inverse layer mask>
paint brush at 50% opacity and paint where I want the blur.

I usually add a curves adjustment on that layer as well to dim the background compared to subject.
