Bar Harbor is on Mt Desert Island. Part of Frenchmans Bay. We took a ride down yesterday 4/10 to see what was going on. Not much of interest right now. Most of the lobster boats, trawlers and draggers were moored in port. In a few weeks it will be overrun with tourists and cruiseships.
I took a few shots anyway. Probably won't be of much interest but that never stopped me.
Not exactly what Nicolas photographs but they are very hard working fishermen. They go out in the heat of summer and well below zero f. in the winter.

I really like that part of Maine, even though it's been years since I've been there. Your photos brought back memories of eating lobster rolls and looking out at the harbour.

I love the thought of lobster. I don't think that I will be having them often this summer though. My wife told me that they are over $15.00 a pound now and the average eating size is 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 pound each. Add that up for a family of 3 or 4 at two each and it starts getting expensive.

Pricey for sure--but I'm not a great fan of lobster rolls luckily LOL (crab is my choice--guess its because I spend more time in southern Atlantic coastal area and crabs are our lobsters LOL). I love Maine though--esp. the northern coast.
We were there in Sept. 06. Lovely time of the year for coastal Maine--tourists were at the low ebb (well, not as low as now LOL). We stayed outside Bar Harbor (actually further up Frenchman's Bay) but spent about a week on Mt. Desert Island and at adjacent islands. I photographed from Kennebunk to Mt. Desert.

Your photos brought back the time we spent there---and hope to go back again soon. This was our third time over a long period of years.

I have seen the scenes from many of your lovely photos many times. Its a beautiful place in the summer but the traffic in the summer is like Boston in rush hour all day long. You did the wise thing going in Sept.
I know that my landscape shots stink but this is to show an area.
If you look straight across this shot to sand beach it is a most fantastic place to see a beautiful sunrise over the bay in the morning. Problem is you have to be their in a very narrow window to see it. I'm sure you know where this is Diane.
