To my dismay I recently discovered that my 1Ds' battery meter has gone awry. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a solution? Thank you.

Hey Will, I'm not sure, but I can tell you that I purchased a new battery about a year ago and have been using it with no problems until a couple weeks ago. I've since discovered I could keep on shooting despite the blinking warning and that the the camera won't shut down. Not exactly what I want, but it'll do.

Check the battery voltage with a digital voltmeter. You may have a shorted cell.
