Last year, on my annual pilgrimage to Seattle, we visited the North West Railway Museum at Snoqualmie. We went again this year, and nothing much had changed.
In the sidings were dozens of old locos, slowly but surely rusting away. Some had been there for over 40 years without any apparent work being carried out.
For the moment they are a source of interest and wonderment for young children and old men, but there will come a time when all that remains is an indestructible plastic information sign sitting on a pile of rust.
It's all rather sad.
Regards,
Stuart
