5d Mark II Rumors

The EOS 5D's replacement may very likely going to have this new feature under development by Canon:

in addition to sRGB II, JPEG XR compatibility and inhouse developed and manufatured OLED screen to replace the standard LCD type now supplied by Sony.

Since the EOS-3 film camera incorporated ECF (Eye-Controlled Focus), the 5D replacement might be designated as an EOS 3D with ERW (Eye-Registered Watermark). There was an EOS 5 in the film version before the EOS-3 made its debut in 1998.

One of the largest shows internationally for full frame photographers, WPPI, will be in Las Vegas starting 3/13 - 3/20. While it's not normal, could it be possible that they announce it to their largest market live? - Only conjecture on my part.

Well, still no action on the 5D Mk II, though I hope they make an announcement soon. I have some Leica R lenses that fit nicely on my 5D. The 1D series is big for me (I'm used to Rangefinders.)

The 24-70 is a fabulous lens, but it is very large. IS on that lens would grow it even further, making it nearly unusable. Instead, I hope they follow Nikon down the high ISO rabbit hole (without much Noise, please) and then IS will be less important on that lens.

Oh, and enough clearance in the mirror box to accommodate a Leica R 35mm Summilux f/1.4 would be nice...
