In a Canon Press release they mention a DIGIC III processor. Is there any information about the DIGIC III?
Maybe another new Camera is comming to be after all?

"To support its success, Canon designs, develops and manufactures its own lenses, image sensors, image processors and color rendering software. With consistently high annual investments in research and development, Canon continues to stay ahead of the market with its innovative imaging technologies, such as UA (Ultra High Refractive Index Aspherical) Lens Technology, the DIGIC II (Digital Imaging Integrated Circuit) and DIGIC III image processors, as well as Canon CMOS image sensors for the company's EOS Digital SLR cameras."
This puts the Digic III reference in some minimal contect. Note that "Digic III" is added after Digic II and the plural, "processors". This means that the phrase was crafted and there is no typo likely.
The paragraph is part of a press release dealing with Canon's market share. Digic III is a little tasty tidbit to the financial market to claim "An even stronger future is around the corner!".
It is, IMHO, designed to create a huge publicity for Canon and a demand for something of which we have just guesses and no one has seen, to our knowledge.
My sense is that several 1Ds III candidates have been tested. I would guess that Canon will parsimoniously leak more tidbits to build up a demand for the new toys made by the carmudgeons and elves and Canon inc.
At the moment, most sane 1DsII users don't really need a new camera. They have to be intrigued, inspired and instilled with a need for something magic.
Enter Digic, which is "Magic" and "Digital" combined.
So in a way, Canon's market wizards are saying, "Guys, you may think you your life is good, but you are using old fashioned magic."
"You want real fun, you must have Digic III."
It's so smart to leak something and then just let the interest build.
