The Colorado Republican presidential caucuses

Doug Kerr

Well-known member
The state of Colorado will hold its Republican presidential caucuses on Tuesday, 2012.02.07.

A caucus meets in each precinct to select delegates to the County Assemblies and District Conventions. The candidates for these delegate seats may express a preference for one of the contenders for the presidential nomination, or may announce that they have no preference.

The process eventually results in the selection of delegates to the Colorado State Republican Convention. That Convention selects the Colorado delegates to the Republican National Convention. The presidential preference of the candidates for the delegate seats may or may not be taken into consideration in the choice of the delegates, as decided by the delegates to the state convention.

The delegates to the national convention are, in any case, not obligated at the national convention to vote for any particular contender for the Republican Party nomination for president.

Best regards,

Doug
