Tiger Bee Fly

Robert Watcher

Well-known member
I thought this big bug flying around the porch the last few days, was some kind of huge wasp, bee or beetle —- but looks like it is a “Tiger Bee Fly”. They are between 3/4” and 1-3/4” in size. This one was well over 1”.

Cool reflection with its black and clear wings.

My education continues as I have never in my 66 years seen or paid attention to this remarkable insect that is of great value to our home gardens and properties. If you weren’t aware, you could be educated as well. https://georgiawildlife.com/out-my-backdoor-meet-tiger-bee-fly
